Internationally renowned vibraphonist Tony Miceli recently visited Canberra to run “Vibe Workshop Downunder 2016” at The Groove Warehouse.
The vibe workshop ran from Saturday the 2nd until Wednesday the 6th culminating with a concert featuring student performances. During the workshop, Tony taught vibraphone scale exercises and singing practice. Students all learned the chords and melodies of a few standards (Little Sunflower, So What, Blue Bossa, etc). Tony provided guidance and tips as students took turns in improvisation exercises. Each student was allocated a song to work on and perform in the final concert.
The student performances were followed by a long set performed by Tony and local musicians Wayne Kelly, Eric Ajaye and Gary France.
